Time to Revive Longer than 5 - DNS Records disappearing in 2008
Hello all,
Well it has been a very long time since my last post, but I decided it was time to get back on blogging bandwagon and write another post. So here it goes.......
I ran into an issue with one of my customers the other day that had me scraching my head for quite a while. We had a 2008 Server that was hosting seconday copy of a DNS Forward lookup zone. The primary was on a 2003 server, and the strangest thing was happening. One by one overtime the DNS records were vanishing. If you reloaded the zone it would reload with no problem but one by one the records would slowly disapear. Well after looking around for a while I found this article from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/953317 It describes a slightly different situaiton, but the fix also stops the DNS records from disapearing. This only happens between a 2003 primary and a 2008 secondary and hopefully the fix will be release soon in a patch day, but until then.....happy hotfixing!
